CPCS Telehandler training

WHAT IS CPCS?

CPCS stands for Construction Plant Competency Scheme and is a card scheme that was devised to prove that plant operators are adequately trained. CPCS training involves both testing professional competence and health and safety awareness. Employers will either want a CPCS or NPORS card if you are going to be operating a telehandler.

WHY GET TELEHANDLER TRAINING?

Anyone wishing to embark on a career in construction and looking to work on sites in the UK must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely and competently work using telehandlers. Employers have strict regulations to comply with and as they look to reduce liability they increasingly look towards operators who hold the relevant qualifications and cards – CPCS is the industry leader when it comes to the most commonly requested card.

EAGLE PLATFORMS CPCS COURSE

Eagle Platforms provide the CPCS A17c Telehandler course that enables successful delegates to prove their competency in safely operating telehandlers on site, including driving and parking, lifting and turning as well as retrieving and lowering loads.

WHAT’S INVOLVED IN THE TRAINING?

The CPCS A17 course is designed for those seeking formal qualifications in operating telehandlers. In terms of the duration of the course, for inexperienced delegates a 5 day period is normally needed, while experienced operators can complete the course in 1-2 days.

During the CPCS course with Eagle Platforms delegates will learn how to:

• Operate their telehandler for all usual tasks
• Determine whether a given load is safe to lift
• Undertake basic servicing and maintenance procedures, as per the manufacturer’s guidelines
• Understand the basic functions of the machinery
• Understand the impact load, size, weight, gradients and ground conditions can have on the stability of the telehandler
• Determine how best to load, store and transport materials on site.

Delegates must have a good grasp of written and spoken English to take part in the training programme.
