Good morning James,

Thank you very much for your kind donation of £445 to the IPAF Paint campaign. Your donation has huge impact for the 1in2 of us that are affected by cancer.

To put it into perspective this donation will support research and clinical trials that are shared all over the world.  We have recently funded a project called ‘Ex Vivo’ that tests innovativedrug screening, the project checks how cancer tissue responds to different drugs in the lab.

Why it matters – At the moment, cancer treatments are chosen based on general knowledge about tumour types, but this doesn’t always work for every patient. Ex vivo testing could reveal better, more personalised options.

What will happen – Tissue from patients with bladder cancer and brain cancer will be tested against many drugs. The results will be compared with how those patients actually respond to treatment, to see if the test is accurate.

The potential impact – If successful, this could change the way treatments are chosen, opening up more effective therapies, including re-using drugs in new ways across different cancer types.

James your donation is very much appreciated, please thank all those involved.

Many thanks,

Bekah
